Privacy & cookies
Last updated 26 June 2026.
This policy explains how londontraffic.org handles information about visitors, the third-party services the site relies on, and the choices and rights you have. londontraffic.org is an information service showing live traffic, incidents and camera feeds for London and the M25; it has no user accounts or sign-in.
Who we are
londontraffic.org is operated by [OPERATOR NAME] (“we”, “us”), the data controller for the personal data described here. You can contact us about privacy at [privacy@your-domain].
The information we process
We do not ask you to create an account or submit personal details to use this site. Personal data is processed in two main ways:
- Technical logs. Our web server records standard request information — your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and timestamps — to keep the service running securely and to diagnose faults. These logs are kept only as long as needed for security and operations.
- Cookies and similar storage set by third parties. Some of the services listed below set cookies or store identifiers in your browser, mainly to provide advertising and to load maps and fonts. Where this is not strictly necessary it happens only with your consent (see “Advertising and your choices”).
Advertising and your choices
We show advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and device identifiers to show and measure ads and, where you allow it, to personalise them based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, the first time you visit you will see a consent message asking whether you accept, reject or wish to manage these uses. Personalised ads are shown only if you consent. If you decline you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised — based on the page rather than your browsing history. You can change your choice at any time using the privacy settings link shown by that message.
For details of how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see Google’s How Google uses information page and its Privacy Policy. You can review and adjust your Google ad settings at My Ad Center.
Analytics
We may use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used — for example which pages are popular — so we can improve it. Where required, analytics cookies are used only with your consent. If Google Analytics is not enabled on this site, this section does not apply.
Other services we rely on
To provide maps, fonts and core functionality the site loads resources from the following providers, which may receive your IP address as a normal part of delivering content:
- OpenStreetMap (map data) and CARTO (map tiles) — see the OpenStreetMap and CARTO privacy policies.
- Google Fonts — serves the site’s typefaces; see the Google Fonts privacy note.
- unpkg — a content-delivery network used to load the Leaflet mapping library.
- Transport for London and National Highways — the sources of the incident and camera data shown on the site; camera images load directly from TfL.
Legal bases (UK GDPR)
Where we rely on advertising or analytics cookies that are not strictly necessary, our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. For keeping the site secure and operational, including technical logs, our basis is our legitimate interests in running a safe and reliable service.
International transfers
Some of the providers above (such as Google) may process data outside the UK. Where that happens they are responsible for applying appropriate safeguards — such as the UK’s international data transfer arrangements — to protect your information.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct or erase it, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability; and you may withdraw consent for cookies at any time. To exercise any of these, contact us at [privacy@your-domain].
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
